Surrender a Pug
Georgia Peach Pug Rescue (GPPR) Incorporated will accept any pug, regardless of the age, temperament, or medical condition. If this is an emergency situation, please call 404-426-6226 and ask for the Intake Coordinator to contact you.
GPPR recognizes that due to unforeseen and unfortunate circumstances, owners may be faced with the difficult decision of surrendering their pug to rescue. If you find yourself in that situation, please fill out the form at the bottom of this page. You will face no judgement and we will work with you to take in your pug and place them into a loving foster home until their permanent home can be identified. The medical and behavioral information provided at the time of surrender is critical. This information helps us determine which foster home would be best suited to care for them, allows us to efficiently treat any medical needs, and lets us know what behavioral problems to watch for and address. For this reason, please be completely transparent about any medical conditions or behavioral problems.
- While in foster, all surrenders will receive veterinary care and foster homes will evaluate pugs as to their temperament and behavior before the adoption process begins to help match them with the most appropriate permanent home. Veterinary care will include, but is not limited to:
- Complete physical examination
- Treatment for any medical conditions
- Unless Georgia Peach Pug Rescue Incorporated has obtained medical records showing that the pug is current on immunizations, the following will be given:
- DHLPP- (distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parvovirus)
- Rabies immunizations
- Heartworm test
- Fecal test.
- If requested by the veterinarian conducting the examination:
- Bordetella (kennel cough).
- Intact pugs must be spayed or neutered as soon as their health and general physical conditions permit.
- The pug will be collared and tagged with a Georgia Peach Pug Rescue Incorporated ID tag, and it should remain on pug’s neck at all times throughout the rescue program process.
