Adoption Fees

While pugs are in foster, Georgia Peach Pug Rescue (GPPR) pays for all veterinarian expenses. Our GPPR Standard Rescue Intake Vetting occurs over multiple appointments and prepares the pug for adoption. It includes:

  • Routine exam/labs
  • Fecal to check for parasites
  • Heart worm test
  • Vaccines: Rabies, Distemper, Adenovirus type 2, Parvovirus, Parainfluenza, Bordetella, and Lepto-4
  • Heart worm / flea / tick preventatives
  • Microchip and registration
  • Spay or neuter procedure
  • Treatment/surgery for any existing conditions

In 2025, we spent $68,419 on veterinary expenses and medications (not including supplies) for 48 pugs, averaging $1,160 per pug. We would be unable to continue pug rescue if we did not recoup some of these expenses through adoption fees. The adoption fee you pay today will save the life of another pug tomorrow.

Our adoption fees are as follows:

  • 0-2 years, $800-$1000
  • 3-5 years, $600-$750
  • 6-8 years, $400-$550
  • 9+ years,  $200-$350

Foster homes receive $100 off the adoption fee

As previously mentioned, we charge adoption fees to recoup part of the costs so we can continue intake and provision of care to other pugs in need. However, typically the adoption fee recoups only a small percentage of what we spend on vetting. To help offset the costs, we also rely on generous donations from the public. GPPR is a non-profit corporation with federal tax exemption as a public charity under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. As such, all donations are tax deductible (EIN 88-2469061).
