About Pugsley
- Name: Pugsley
- Age: 5
- Sex: M
- Weight: 30
- Neutered/Spayed: Yes
- Housebroken: Yes (although he will mark inside sometimes as male dogs are known to do)
- Crate trained: He doesn’t love going into a crate but will if he gets a treat. He also wants to be let out of the crate immediately when you get home and will tell you so!
- Barks frequently: Occasionally (he is protective of his space so will bark at noises)
- Digs in the yard: No
- Good with dogs: Yes (he does well with his foster sister, although he has barked at dogs while on walks)
- Good with cats: Unsure (does not seem to notice my neighbors’ cat)
- Good with kids: Unsure (but he does not do well with people rushing at him unexpectedly so we recommend a home without children).
- Food/treat aggression: No
- Likes: Loves to cuddle and sleep next to his caregiver, loves his stuffed toys (they can serve as a pacifier to calm him), likes play-wrestling with his foster sister
- Dislikes: Being left alone (has a bit of separation anxiety so would do better in a home where he gets a lot of attention).
- Special considerations: Pugsley seems to dislike some men, so could benefit from additional socialization training.
- General health: Excellent health, needs playtime and walks to keep his weight managed
- Temperament: Pugsley is super cuddly and loves to sleep next to (if not on top of, hahaha) his human companions. Like most pugs, he can be a little stubborn
- Personality: Pugsley is a character. He’s a happy little guy who loves his person and is a protector of them. He would prefer to be with his person 24/7 rather than on his own. He loves stuffed toys but could care less about a ball or playing fetch.
- Behavior: Pugsley will definitely tell you when it is dinner time! He has a good internal clock for mealtime and will get super excited to tell you when it’s time to eat. Pugsley prefers soft treats to hard, crunchy ones. As mentioned above, Pugsley has a little separation anxiety and would do best with someone who has a work from home situation (or is retired). He does seem to have some stranger fear/aggression, particularly around men. [Please note that with his previous family, he was protective of their home and did bite an adult who came onto their property. Pugsley does best when slowly and calmly introduced to new people, rather than having them come at him suddenly, which causes him angst.]
