About Bug
Name: Bug
Age: 7-8
Sex: male
Weight: 25 lbs
Neutered/Spayed: neutered
Housebroken: yes, hasn’t marked or had an accident inside the house
Crate trained: No
Barks frequently: Sometimes at passing cars but he is easily redirected
Digs in the yard: Unsure
Good with dogs: Yes but we think he would thrive more in a single dog household where he can be the star of attention.
Good with cats: Unsure
Good with kids: Yes
Food/treat aggression: Yes but only towards other dogs, not people. Managed by separating dogs during meal times. He only growls but has not snapped towards our pug. He also growls towards our pug when playing with toys but does not snap at him.
Likes: walks and treats, loves to be pet and get attention. He’s like a Mastercard, everywhere you want to be
Dislikes: nail trims 😖
Special considerations: we think he’d thrive in a single dog environment. Rear-end weakness due to prior injury-induced arthritis and has anti-inflammatory meds as needed (showed no signs of neurological or disc disorder); would benefit living in a single story home or with someone would can carry him up and down stairs. A ramp for the couch would be helpful.
General health: He’s pretty energetic for his age. He’s lost some weight already now that he’s eating the proper amount of food. He could still lose a few more pounds but he does get around well for the most part. His coat is in great condition and does well with baths.
Temperament: Very friendly. Some toy aggression towards another dog. He has a low growl when walking past other people outside but is not aggressive – could be a behavior he’s picked up from our pug. 😬 He loves to follow you around and snuggle with you on the couch or on the bed.
Personality: Bug is a lover and just wants to be the center of attention. He can get a little jealous when we are playing with our other pug. He comes when he’s called and is easily redirected but doesn’t sit when commanded which could be due to arthritis mentioned in above comments.
Behavior: Bug is very calm and easy going. He doesn’t show any fear towards people or other dogs other than an occasional low growl. He gets easily excited to go on walks and when getting a treat. He likes to play with our pug for about 15 minutes and then will sleep for awhile. He’s laid back and doesn’t have any separation anxiety when we have to leave the house.
