Event Volunteers

Event volunteers sign up to help on the day of our large, community-wide fundraisers. They are instrumental in helping welcome attendees, run activity booths (e.g., painting, temporary tattoos, etc.), support special events (e.g., contests, races, etc.), sell merchandise, and so much more. Event volunteers make the overall experience better for our community attendees; shorter wait times in line, more folks to check in with when they have questions – the list goes on and on. We hope you will consider volunteering for a shift (or two!) and helping make our community fundraiser a great success for the pugs that depend on us.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Do I have to work the whole event?

  • No. We have the day separated into shifts and you can sign up for the shift(s) you prefer.
    • Setup
    • Shift 1 (12:00-2:30pm)
    • Shift 2 (2:30-5:00pm)
    • Breakdown.

Can I bring my dog with me to volunteer?

  • Yes. For safety, all dogs in attendance must remain leashed or confined to a stroller or wagon.

I see that your event is at a brewery. Is my child allowed inside?

  • Yes. The event is open to the public and family friendly.

My child would like to volunteer with me. Do you allow minor volunteers?

  • Yes, following receipt of a signed waiver by their legal parent or guardian.

Do I need any experience or training?

  • None at all – we will train you on the booth or event you are helping with when you arrive.

Can I receive service hours for volunteering?

  • Yes, we will have Volunteer Service Forms on-site that must be completed by an GPPR Event Coordinator (Jody, Amy, or Jen).

Is there a dress code?

  • Our events are themed (Pug Prom/Pug-O-Ween), so pugs (and their people) are invited to wear what someone might wear to prom or to a Halloween party. Feel free to join the fun and dress up. However, if dressing up is not your thing, casual and comfortable is always in style.

Do you provide volunteers with transportation to and from the event?

  • No. We are a small, volunteer-led organization and do not have the capacity nor resources to accommodate transportation requests.
