About Lucy

  • Name: Lucy
  • Age: 1
  • Sex: Female
  • Breed: Pug
  • Weight: 13.5 Pounds
  • Neutered/Spayed: Yes
  • Housebroken: In progress. Lucy does well if let out very frequently. She has accidents but it is usually very small amounts.
  • Crate trained: In progress. Lucy is still peeing a bit in her crate.
  • Barks frequently: No. Very quiet unless she hears something unusual.
  • Digs in the yard: No
  • Good with dogs: Yes. She is definitely an alpha. She would probably do well with a playful housemate of a similar size. She might do ok as an only dog with options for play dates with other doggie friends (daycare, dog park).
  • Good with cats: Yes
  • Good with kids: Yes, but she would do best in a home with older children over 8. She is still quite shy, and loud and sudden movements scare her.
  • Food/treat aggression: No
  • Likes: Walks/hiking, tearing apart squeaky toys, food and treats
  • Dislikes: Loud noises. Being picked up but this is MUCH better once she trusts you
  • General health: A bit underweight at 13.5 lbs. Could probably gain a pound or two and be considered healthy. Has one eye that is slightly cloudy the vet said was likely from a prior injury that was never treated.
  • Temperament: Sweet and loving. Nervous in new environments.
  • Personality: Working on basics like sit and down…it’s been a struggle. She would do great with some basic and consistent obedience training as she is very food motivated
  • Behavior: Alpha personality. Doesn’t love being kissed on the side of her face/head. Learning to trust humans when being picked up.
  • Special Considerations: Lucy was formerly owned by a breeder and lived the first 10 months of life outside in a kennel. Sadly, she “accidentally” became pregnant at six months (when she was still a baby herself), but allegedly none of her puppies survived. She has had a rough life, so it is no surprise that she is easily frightened and it takes her a bit to warm up to people. Her foster mom does not recommend she be matched with elderly dogs as she is a “rough and tumble” kind of girl.
