4th of July Safety Tips

  • Update the contact information on your pug’s collar and microchip
  • Exercise your pug before dark
  • Stay indoors with doors and gates securely latched
  • Keep pug comfortable by providing favorite toys, a cozy bed, an anxiety wrap, etc.
  • Prepare delicious distractions such as a lick mat with frozen spread, a long-lasting chew (no rawhide), or a Kong filled with peanut butter
  • Use veterinarian approved anti-anxiety medications/supplements as prescribed
  • Resist feeding your pug food from a cookout to avoid stomach upset
  • Play white noise or loud music/television to drown out the booms from fireworks
  • Close blinds/curtains to minimize the flashes from fireworks
  • Stay calm and maintain a normal routine; your pug takes their cues from your behavior
