4th of July Safety Tips
- Update the contact information on your pug’s collar and microchip
- Exercise your pug before dark
- Stay indoors with doors and gates securely latched
- Keep pug comfortable by providing favorite toys, a cozy bed, an anxiety wrap, etc.
- Prepare delicious distractions such as a lick mat with frozen spread, a long-lasting chew (no rawhide), or a Kong filled with peanut butter
- Use veterinarian approved anti-anxiety medications/supplements as prescribed
- Resist feeding your pug food from a cookout to avoid stomach upset
- Play white noise or loud music/television to drown out the booms from fireworks
- Close blinds/curtains to minimize the flashes from fireworks
- Stay calm and maintain a normal routine; your pug takes their cues from your behavior
